Financial literacy

Financial Literacy for Schoolchildren: Pilot Project with QTS

Since the start of the third term in 2025, AIFC Academy, in partnership with Quantum Tech School (QTS), has launched a pilot educational project focused on “Global Competencies.” The project targets financial literacy for students in grades 9 to 11.

What is the project about?

We have adapted the international programme Money Smart for Young People, originally developed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC, USA), to suit the needs of schoolchildren in Kazakhstan. The aim is to teach teenagers how to manage money wisely, understand the basics of personal finance, and make informed decisions.

Where is the training held?

At the initial stage, we are collaborating with three different schools:

  • Quantum Tech School (Astana, private school)
  • Rural school in Akmola Region (state school)
  • Flagman School (remote learning, private school)

This diversity allows us to evaluate how the course performs in various formats and settings.

How is it organised?

  • The programme consists of 15 interactive lessons delivered in Russian and Kazakh.
  • All lessons are specially designed for students in grades 9 to 11.
  • The course includes case studies, assignments, discussions, and practical exercises.

Early results

To date, over 110 students have completed all 15 lessons. The feedback is inspiring:

  • The average course rating is 5 out of 5
  • 92% of students and parents are willing to recommend the course to others

Teachers report that teenagers actively engage in discussions, ask thoughtful questions, and begin applying their knowledge in daily life — from managing personal budgets to critically analysing purchases.

AIFC Academy continues to develop the project by expanding it to other schools and regions. We believe that fostering financial literacy from an early age is an investment in the future of every student and the country as a whole.
